Phil Kim

Board of Education

Phil Kim has served as a teacher, curriculum leader, and district administrator. This combination of experiences has positioned him to understand what happens in the classroom and what it takes to support it from the district level.

Since being elected Board President in 2024, Phil has delivered real results: SFUSD reduced its structural deficit and moved out of negative budget certification, overhauled curriculum, and increased classroom staffing. Phil established the district's first-ever Committee on Public Engagement to make board decision-making more transparent and accountable to families.

These wins reflect a Board that has shifted from spiraling to functioning. Stable and effective leadership is a key focus for our schools and Phil has demonstrated he can continue to be a part of that leadership.
